Sholom Discoveries

3rd to 7th Grade

Sholom Discoveries re-imagines the traditional religious school model into a one-day, after-school enrichment program elevating the best of Jewish experiential education alongside our Rodeph Sholom culture of community building. Our program is rooted in the connections children build with each other and the relationships they develop with our clergy, educators and teen mentors. Part enrichment program, part social gathering and 100% fun.

Now, more than ever, we feel the increased importance of connecting to each other in meaningful ways to celebrate and connect as a community amidst changing and challenging circumstances. Join us on a journey of discoveries as we raise the next generation of Jewish thinkers and creators.

WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE

  • One day a week after-school enrichment program in person.
  • One-on-one online Hebrew once a week for 3rd-6th grades with the ability to schedule at a convenient time for your child (Sunday – Thursday).
  • Jewish values are creatively and seamlessly integrated into enrichment classes like culinary arts, visual + performing arts, creative writing, technology + coding.
  • NEW: “Lights, Camera…Discoveries” is a new 5th/6th grade weekly class learning our Jewish Values and holiday curriculum through the magic of acting, improv, and creative storytelling. 
  • A newly developed, innovative curriculum designed to appeal to 3rd-7th graders and their families.
  • Activities are geared towards offerings that help our children better themselves and the world around them.
  • Experiences are infused with ritual and ideas which lead to more creative prayer and community time, holiday programs and mitzvah projects that children look forward to participating in and sharing at home.

Discoveries After School
This program readies our students to become leaders within our community as they approach B’nai Mitzvah. Teachers and clergy explore with them units about God, becoming B’nai Mitzvah, Antisemitism and the Holocaust, and Israel.

  1. Fast internet connections are ideal for viewing, such as cable, fiber, and FiOS. Live streaming will not work with dial-up, and if you have a slow internet speed, you may experience stuttering or screen freezing.
  2. If your screen freezes during viewing, please try reloading your browser. Also try clearing your history and shutting down other programs and web pages.
  3. Google Chrome and Firefox work well with our Live Stream, while Safari can be less dependable. If you are unable to view Live Stream at all, please try a different browser.
  4. If you cannot hear the Live Stream, make sure you click “Tap to Unmute” at the top of the player.
  5. Sound is largely a function of the quality of your audio equipment. External speakers will greatly enhance the sound.
  6. If you are having trouble dialing in to services (audio only):
    • Dial (929) 205-6099 on your phone.
    • It will then ask for the meeting or webinar ID—Enter meeting/webinar ID (947 9181 4318) followed by #.
    • It will then ask for participant ID, but you can skip that and wait for it to ask for the meeting passcode. When it does, enter the meeting passcode (676 263) followed by #.
    • Once you’ve entered that, you should be dialed in and able to hear services.
