Pathways to Judaism

Welcome to Pathways to Judaism, Congregation Rodeph Sholom’s home for those looking to learn more about Judaism and Jewish community. Whatever has brought you to this page and to this moment, I am glad you’re here.

Pathways to Judaism is a place to explore and ask big questions about Judaism, community, and what it means to live purposefully. Click below for more information about Discovering Judaism, our introduction to Judaism course, as well as information about the process of converting to Judaism.

From the Desk of Rabbi Goldberg

Hillel was a great Jewish sage who lived nearly 2,000 years ago. Asked to explain the entire history of Jewish tradition in one moment, Hillel responded: “That which is hateful to you do not do to another. That is the whole tradition.” Then Hillel added: “Zil g’mor,” “Go and study.” I believe that this tiny phrase, “go and study,” is the essence of what it means to be part of Jewish community today. All are welcome to join us in an exploration of this sacred tradition.

I became a rabbi because I believe that Jewish tradition, text, history, and community are tools for living a meaningful life.  It is an honor and privilege to work with those who are seeking to learn more about Judaism and I look forward to continuing the conversation.
