Erev Shabbat Service
Friday, June 18 at 6:00 PM
Join us as Rabbi Levine caps his time as Senior Rabbi by leading Erev Shabbat services one last time as he transitions to the role of our Rabbi Emeritus. This will be a wonderful opportunity to hear the reflections from our beloved Rabbi who has shaped our congregation for a generation.
Outdoor Shabbaton
Saturday, June 26 1:00-5:00 PM
Come to our family-friendly Shabbaton in front of our Temple building at West 83rd Street to give Rabbi Levine your best wishes! There will be plenty to do up and down the street. Bring your canned goods to participate in an interactive construction project that will be donated to West Side Campaign Against Hunger. There will also be crafts, an ice cream truck, a special Rabbi Levine Coloring Book, a photo booth, and more.

CRS Can-struction Project to benefit Westside Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH)
As part of our Shabbaton, we will be building a structure completely out of canned goods that will create images on both sides. In order to do this, specific can sizes and colors are needed. All cans must be 14-16 oz – standard can size. We will be donating all of the canned goods to West Side Campaign Against Hunger to help those in our neighborhood with food insecurity.
You can either bring the cans with you to the Shabbaton or if purchased online they can be shipped directly to 7 West 83rd Street New York, NY 10024 (Attn: Miriam Baron).
Types/Colors of Cans needed:
- Target’s Good and Gather (14-16 oz)
- Whole green beans (dark blue)
- Black beans (light blue)
- Pinto beans (orange)
- Chili beans (orange)
- Sweet corn (gold)
- Low sodium dark red kidney beans (purple)

COVID PROTOCOLS
While CRS is continuing to monitor the changing guidance, our current protocols include social-distancing, mask requirements, and capacity restrictions. Therefore we are limiting each time slot to 50 people and everyone will be required to wear a mask. Ongoing updates are also available on the CRS Reopening page on our website.
Send a Tribute to Rabbi Levine
As Rabbi Levine approaches his retirement, we know the most important blessings for his next chapter will come from you, his beloved congregants. After thirty years at CRS, you hold the sacred relationships, the memorable stories, and the profound Torah (wisdom) that shape the essence of Rabbi Levine’s rabbinate. No celebration would be complete without your words and reflections. Share a video message, an email, or handwritten letter (CRS c/o Gail Becker 7 West 83rd Street, NY, NY 10024) by June 11 to let Rabbi Levine know what he means to you.
The Levine Family Access for All Fund
has been created to recognize the long tenure and service of Rabbi Robert Levine and Gina Levine to Congregation Rodeph Sholom
For over 30 years, Rabbi Levine has committed his rabbinate to the growth and vitality of our synagogue. A central tenet of his rabbinate is the primary place of the synagogue in modern life and his strong belief that the essential elements of the synagogue – worship, education, community – should be open and accessible to all who wish to participate. Gina has been instrumental in engaging congregants, spearheading major social justice initiatives, leading Sisterhood, and co-creating our Shireinu program.
If you wish to honor Rabbi Robert and Gina Levine you may donate here.
