KAREN BANK
Karen and her family have been members of CRS for 23 years. Karen grew up in an Orthodox family and her husband grew up in the Reform Movement, and together they found a home at both Congregation Rodeph Sholom and Rodeph Sholom School. Their two children are both Rodeph Sholom School graduates, CRS B’nai Mitzvah, and Confirmands. Karen was very active and ultimately joined the Rodeph Sholom School board. While on the school board she was a member of the Development, Government, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Social Justice committees, and helped to shape the school’s Israel statement. At CRS she chaired Mitzvah weekend twice, participated in the CRS leadership development program, and became an adult B’nai Mitzvah. Karen has worked in the restaurant industry with her husband Jeffrey, for many years, where she handled many of the business aspects including payroll, A/P, A/R, inventory control, HR, and much more. She received her BA in Psychology from Queens College.
ARIE HOCHBERG
Born in Poland, Arie moved to Israel at 13, where he finished high school, served in the Army, and attended college. After receiving his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Columbia, he began his career in the field of high performance plastics and received a number of patents in the field. He eventually switched careers and now owns a small business importing wine from small, high-quality Israeli vineyards. Prior to moving to New York City, Arie and his wife Elaine lived in New Jersey where he was a member of their synagogue’s board and chaired the cemetery committee. He joined CRS 12 years ago and has become an active member of Brotherhood, a member of the Israel Committee, an active chapel goer, and is a co-leader of a wine Minyan.
