CRS Stars of Hope are the colorful painted ones underneath the white Stars of David.
“ ‘People want to do something tangible, but what do you do in a tragedy like this?…You can’t bring people back. [But] you can hug them with love and you can express your compassion through art.’”
A special and heartfelt thank you to all those who participated in last weekend’s Mitzvah Day, and especially those who participated in making Stars of Hope. While we were not expecting to have to use them so soon after they were made, we are glad to have been able to provide support and comfort to a neighborhood in mourning.
Thanks especially to congregant Jeff Parness, who founded Stars of Hope and allowed us to move quickly to lend that support on Sunday.
This article from JTA (Jewish Telegraphic Agency) tells the story of how Jeff drove down to Pittsburgh with the Stars of Hope in tow. Read it here: https://www.jta.org/2018/10/31/news-opinion/stars-of-hope-brings-comfort-to-pittsburgh-with-the-help-of-trauma-survivors
