Refugee Shabbat Havdalah: An Interfaith Gathering of Support

Sat, Feb 3 • 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

IN PERSON

This event takes place in person at The Church of St Paul and St. Andrew (263 W 86th St.)

Join with your neighbors and Cantor Stefano Iacono for Refugee Shabbat Havdalah: An Interfaith Gathering of Support. Participants will hear from elected officials and insightful speakers, including Comptroller Brad Lander and HIAS NY’s Vice President of Community Engagement, Merrill Zack. Look forward to diving into some learning, prayer, and collective action as we unite in support of those seeking refuge.

To support newly arrived asylum seekers as they navigate New York City for the first time, please bring prepaid metro cards (with enough value for four rides or more); these will be distributed during the Church of St. Paul and St. Andrew’s upcoming weekly resource fair.

This event is part of HIAS’ annual Refugee Shabbat—an initiative inviting members of Jewish and other faith communities to express solidarity and support for refugees, asylum seekers, and anyone who has been forcibly displaced from their home country, and an opportunity to step back, reflect, and celebrate the work we have already done.

This event is co-sponsored by Ansche Chesed, B’nai Jeshurun, Congregation Rodeph Sholom, Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, St. Paul and St. Andrew United Methodist Church, SAJ and the Synagogue Coalition on the Refugee and Immigration Crisis.

Welcome the Stranger. Protect the Refugee.
