Lunch Together

Tue, Feb 10, 2015 • 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM

Eisner Auditorium (Congregation Rodeph Sholom)
“Look What A Wonder”

Remember in the early 1940s when a family would gather in their living room with hot chocolate in front of the big wooden radio and listen to the “Lone Ranger”?

Look What A Wonder is a gospel musical about slavery that was featured in the New York Music Theater Festival a few years ago and has been reformatted into a one hour radio play based on the Denmark Vesey Slave Conspiracy of 1822. Denmark Vesey was a free Black living in Charleston, SC, who plotted an elaborate Black insurrection. The insurrection was aborted, and Vesey (along with 35 others) was captured, found guilty in a closed trial, and hung. In recognition of Black History Month, and at a time calling out for justice for all people, come hear the radio play performance, followed by a Skype Q & A with the writer and composer, Walter Robinson.

A dairy lunch will be served. A minimum contribution of $8 per person is suggested.

Co-sponsored by Adult Ed, Caring Community, and Sisterhood.
