It’s Time to Talk About It: Walking the Jewish Path Towards End-of-Life Decision Making

In this four-session class, we will explore the range of decisions that can be made in preparation for emergency situations that may threaten our lives. Our faith tradition offers us a wealth of wisdom as we confront these challenging but necessary conversations with our loved ones. Preparation and planning, when done with loving attention and intention, can be an affirmation of life and love. This class will attempt to raise the spiritual and religious, legal, medical, financial, and practical aspects inherent in this process.

Session 4: Tying up Loose Ends: Creating an Advance Care Plan

How can I incorporate my Jewish values into creating an end-of-life plan for myself? What do I need to do to prepare myself and my loved ones for the inevitable? This session will identify
legal and financial issues, and will include a directed conversation with What Matters in medical decision-making.

Although this topic can be challenging to confront, causes us to be fearful, and is often thought to be taboo, it is our belief that honest and mindful conversations before a crisis occurs provide us with the possibility of living well and fully until the end. We encourage cross-generational participation of congregants of all ages and levels of knowledge. We strongly encourage attendance at all four sessions, but welcome drop-ins for individual sessions.
