In September, 1654, twenty-three Jews arrived in New Amsterdam. In the midst of our 175th year, join Rabbi Daniel Bronstein for a crash course on the history American Jewish experience, New York City style.

Rabbi Daniel Bronstein served as a Legislative Assistant at the Religious Action Center in Washington DC, following graduation from college, and then earned an MA in Jewish history at Brandeis University. Following his ordination at HUC-JIR in 1996, Rabbi Bronstein went on to earn his doctorate in Jewish history at JTS. For over a decade he was the Congregational Scholar at Congregation Beth Elohim of Brooklyn. Rabbi Bronstein has published on a variety of topics, ranging from Jewish humor to theology, and now teaches in the departments of History and Sociology at Hunter College.
