BE PART OF HISTORY: HEAR THE BEHIND THE SCENES STORY OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS SUPREME COURT DECISION IN A GENERATION

This past June, in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, the Supreme Court struck down a pair of targeted regulations on abortion providers in Texas. In a 5-3 decision, the Court rejected Texas’s thinly veiled attempt to use medically unnecessary laws to jeopardize women’s access to abortion – sending a strong message to legislatures across the country that they can no longer use politically motivated regulations to restrict abortion.

The defense of reproductive rights is the cornerstone of contemporary social justice efforts undertaken by Congregation Rodeph Sholom. One Voice to Save Choice, Rodeph Sholom’s reproductive rights committee and founder of a New York City interfaith coalition advocating on behalf of reproductive rights here in New York State and across the country, has a special event in store to showcase its commitment to reproductive rights.  As part of Rodeph Sholom’s 175th anniversary celebration, One Voice to Save Choice invites you to join us for a screening of the documentary film, TRAPPED, which narrates the story about the important fight behind the decision. The film features Dr. Willie Parker, a provider practicing in the last remaining abortion clinic in Mississippi. The film follows clinic workers and lawyers who are on the front lines of the battle to keep abortion safe and legal for millions of American women.

September Special guest, Andrea Miller, President of the Institute of Reproductive Health, will be available to provide her insights and answer questions.

Refreshments will be served. Kindly RSVP to 646-454-3109 or email us at voicechoice@crsnyc.org.
