  • Tribe

In a landscape of Jewish organizations trying to convince and cajole millennials to engage in older, more traditional definitions of Jewish life, Tribe started with a simple idea: what if we gave a new generation of Jews the resources and tools to reimagine and create the Jewish community they want?

Founded in 2014 by Rabbi Ben Spratt and Rabbi Josh Stanton with a circle of 12 millennials, Tribe is a partnership between Congregation B’nai Jeshurun of Short Hills, New Jersey, and Congregation Rodeph Sholom of New York City.

Over the years, Tribe has blossomed and now engages more than 6,000 people, using Jewish tools and wisdom to connect through conversation, spirituality, learning, text, justice, and the expressions of the Tribe community. From gatherings of three to events of 300, we have not only strengthened our connections with one another within the Tribe community, but found meaning in collaborating with Jewish organizations in the expansive and innovative network that is Young Jewish New York.

We look forward to continuing to evolve to meet the needs of young Jewish New Yorkers in their 20s and 30s.

We hope you will join us on the journey!
