When are B’nai Mitzvah dates assigned?
When your child is in 3rd or 4th grade, you will be invited to “Beginning the Journey,” which will orient you to the B’nai Mitzvah process. After that session, you will be sent a form to request a B’nai Mitzvah date and time for your child. The B’nai Mitzvah manager will then assign a date and time based on that form.
What are the requirements for a B’nai Mitzvah at CRS?
If you have any questions about the requirements or your eligibility please contact bnaimitzvah@crsnyc.org.
How will my family and friends be able to participate in the service?
There are several opportunities to honor family and friends including aliyot, dressing the Torah, and English readings. You will get a list of these honors from the clergy study a few weeks in advance of the service.
What if some invitees cannot make it in person? Will they be able to join in the milestone?
Those who are unable to join in person will be able to tune in via live stream from the Main Sanctuary.
What is the cost of the B’nai Mitzvah at CRS?
Fees for the B’nai Mitzvah reflect the significant synagogue resources that will be invested in your children to enable them to reach this milestone.
The B’nai Mitzvah Experience fee is currently $3,600 and covers the entire process of guidance and instruction from now through your child’s service including:
The B’nai Mitzvah Experience fee is billed in two installments with payment due upon receipt of the bill. The first installment of $1,562 is billed two fiscal years before your child’s B’nai Mitzvah date. One fiscal year prior to your child’s date, you will see another charge for $2,038 (which includes costs associated with the flowers and Security), completing your total payment of $3,600.
Can I rent a space at CRS for my celebration after the B’nai Mitzvah service?
Yes! Around 18 months before your B’nai Mitzvah, our operations team will reach out to discuss rental options. Please note that all venues might not be available on your date due to pre-scheduled synagogue programming and religious services.
Why do you use “B’nai Mitzvah” instead of Bar/Bat Mitzvah?
We use “B’nai Mitzvah” as an all-inclusive and gender-neutral term for this milestone moment.
What are CRS’s COVID-19 protocols?
We regularly update the synagogue’s COVID-19 safety protocols here. Our team will be in touch with any protocol updates as they happen. We will send out the protocols to your guests the week of the service to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible on the B’nai Mitzvah day.
