We are so excited to welcome two new rabbinic interns to Congregation Rodeph Sholom, Jess Friedman and Jacob Friedman. They are both third-year rabbinical students at Hebrew Union College, and bring a wealth of experience in social justice, youth education, and community organizing to their roles. We look forward to their valuable contributions to our CRS community and getting to know them more! Read more below:

Jess Friedman
Jess Friedman is a rising third-year rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College, originally from Needham, Massachusetts. Jess is a product of Jewish Day School and a graduate of Tufts University, where she studied Environmental Studies and Hebrew. Before beginning rabbinical school, Jess served as a Social Justice Community Organizer at a large synagogue in Massachusetts. This position allowed Jess the opportunity to engage with people of all ages and a diverse portfolio of Tikkun Olam projects. Jess is personally committed to a variety of social justice issues with a focus on helping individuals and communities transform their ideas into meaningful action. In her free time, she enjoys sailing, taking long walks around the city, and reading historical fiction. Jess is honored to join Rodeph Sholom next year and looks forward to meeting the community and learning together.

Jacob Friedman
Jacob is a rising third-year rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College, originally from Southern California, and a graduate of Indiana University. He is thrilled to bring his experience in Jewish education and young adult programming to the Community Pathways rabbinic internship. Prior to rabbinical school, Jacob worked as a youth director at a large synagogue in Northern California. Jacob brings a love of Jewish music, and a passion for theology, and Jewish magic and mysticism. Jacob is looking forward to getting to know the Congregation Rodeph Sholom 20s and 30s community and can’t wait to begin learning together!
