The World Zionist Congress, established by Theodor Herzl in 1897, is the democratically elected international body which gives Diaspora Jews like us a voice in shaping Israel’s future. Taking place every five years, the World Zionist Congress is known as “the parliament of the Jewish People,” where 525 elected delegates from around the globe will meet in Jerusalem from October 28-30, 2025 to make key decisions in how to allocate over $1 billion annually (over $5 billion for the 5 years between congresses) to support needs across Israeli society.
The money being allocated includes the budget for the major Zionist Organizations including the Jewish National Fund, the Jewish Agency for Israel and Keren Kayameth L’Israel. These organizations allocate money and perform services that affect the entire Jewish world. Among other roles they purchase land, pay for education and community building, develop water resources, and influence rules for who qualifies as a Jew and who does not.
