This summer, junior clergy put their heads together on what to offer congregants when we’re in vacation months. What better when it’s sunny and warm then to get out and visit sites of Jewish interest? On July 21, Rabbi Spratt and Cantor De Lowe led an intrepid group on a special hard-hat, behind the scenes tour of Ellis Island. Braving a temperature of 105 degrees, the group explored areas that have not been restored.
The following weekend, Rabbi Weitzman and Rabbi Karol led another group on a walking tour of the Lower East Side, starting with a visit to the breathtakingly restored Eldridge Street Synagogue, then moving on to a Jewish cemetery, and a pickle shop as well as other places.
