On October 13, the Shalom Hartman Lecture Series premiered at CRS. .
.
Rabbi Sari Laufer hosted the event on behalf of CRS. Rabbi Laufer (center) is pictured above with Dr. Yehuda Kurtzer, President of the Shalom Hartman Institute-North America (right) and Eric S. Goldstein, CEO of UJA-Federation of New York (left). Rabbi Laufer delivered introductory remarks.
Speaking to a full house, Rabbi Laufer began, “I am not the first rabbi, and I will not be the last, to quote Yehuda HaLevi’s poem from a bimah; I am probably not the only one who will do so this week in particular. He wrote, of course, Libi b’mizrach—my heart is in the East, and I am in the utmost West.” Read Rabbi Laufer’s entire remarks.
A booklet of the evening’s programming is available here.
CRS members may attend this series free of cost. Our participation is generously funded by the Dora and Leo Diamond Day Program Fund.
