We’re proud to share that our very own Cantor Shayna De Lowe is featured in a new exhibit at the History Museum on the Square in Springfield, Missouri. Creating Community: Jews of Springfield highlights the history, resilience, and contributions of the Jewish community in Springfield—where Cantor De Lowe was born and raised.
In the exhibit, Cantor De Lowe reflects on her formative years at Temple Israel, where a small but deeply committed group of families built a strong sense of Jewish identity and belonging. She shares how the experience of growing up in such a tight-knit community—and watching her parents and other volunteers sustain synagogue life—inspired her lifelong connection to Jewish music, tradition, and leadership.
That early foundation, she writes, “shaped who I am. I credit my parents, my childhood rabbi, and the amazing community of Temple Israel with my love of Judaism.”
Now a cherished member of the clergy team at Rodeph Sholom, Cantor De Lowe continues to uplift and inspire with the same heart, dedication, and spirit that first took root in her hometown community. We are honored to see her story recognized in this way.
The exhibit is open now at the History Museum on the Square in Springfield. You can learn more here.
