CRS was recently featured in West Side Rag for our growing mah jongg community and the renewed excitement around the game on the Upper West Side.
Reporter and CRS member Tracy Zwick highlighted the vibrant energy of our monthly mah jongg nights, where players of all ages gather to connect, compete, and share in the joy of the game. As the article notes, CRS has expanded its offerings to include lessons and weekly daytime open play to meet the incredible demand. “We’re making mah jongg big again here,” said Scott Hertz, Director of Marketing, Communications, and Program at CRS. “It’s insane how much interest there is.”
From beginners learning the ropes to seasoned players joining week after week, our tables have become a space for friendship, fun, and community building. Mah jongg has long been part of Jewish life on the Upper West Side, and we’re proud to be part of its vibrant revival.
