On Monday, January 4, ten congregants joined with St. Timothy and St. Matthew to kick-off Sew and So, a project inspired by this year’s Mitzvah Day.
Congregation Rodeph Sholom’s Sisterhood teamed up with Days for Girls for their Mitzvah project: creating sustainable feminine hygiene kits. From tracing patterns and cutting fabric to sewing the pieces together we created reusable feminine hygiene kits for girls who do not have access to such products. This project resonated with our Sisterhood and they decided to continue working with the wonderful Days for Girls program, and thus, Sew and So was born! A monthly gathering, on the first Monday of the month, where volunteers sew Days for Girls kit components. This past Monday, a group of members congregated at the church of St. Matthew and St. Timothy for the first Sew and So of 2016. In attendance were Hilary Klotz Steinman, Sue Nemens, Sandy Abramson, Rosa Reyes-Oltarsh, Andrea Kretchmer, Judy Gallent, Elisabeth Lerner, Penelope Lutvak, Spencer Lutvak.
Join us the first Monday of each month, beginners welcome, as we are happy to teach people how to knit and sew!
