A few weeks ago CRS took a group of 25 8th graders to New Orleans for an unbelievable weekend of culture, site-seeing, and service learning together.
This was our 6th annual trip, and it’s always a highlight of our year, as well as the teens who join.
The projects we participated in, from gardening to cleaning a school, and visiting a shelter which serves mothers and their children, helped build New Orleans’ community as well as ours.We even had a chance to eat yummy beignets, attend a touching jazz concert, and were welcomed to a Baptist church service which took place in New Orleans’ oldest synagogue.
Over the years the teens and chaperones still tell stories about this wonderful trip, and we can’t wait for next year! 7th graders, get ready!
