CRS RE-OPENING UPDATES

(RE)TURNING TOGETHER

UPDATE ON RE-OPENING PLANS FOR CONGREGATION RODEPH SHOLOM

We are re-opening our building for in-person prayer and connections.

Our doors are once again open for Erev Shabbat services in the Main Sanctuary. Members and non-members are welcome to attend, with pre-registration required. Please use the calendar to register for each service.

Services continue to stream on our website and Facebook page.

GUIDELINES FOR IN-PERSON EVENTS

We have set the following guidelines for in-person worship in consultation with our medical advisory team and Board. Developed for the safety of all, these guidelines may evolve over time:

  • Pre-registration is required to attend; you will receive a ticket that must be shown for entry.
  • Proof of vaccination or negative results from a PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to the service is required (including for children under 12). We recommend taking a photo of your official vaccination record card (front and back) with your smartphone or using the NYS Excelsior Pass – we do not need to see the actual card and will not keep a copy of it.
  • Effective July 30, those who are registered in our system as fully vaccinated will no longer need to show proof of vaccination and can enter through a precheck line. Learn more here.
  • Face masks and social distancing are required throughout the building.
  • We ask that you stay home if you are not feeling well.

PRECHECK ENTRY

To expedite entry to all indoor events, you can show us proof of your fully vaccinated status in advance. Then beginning July 30, when you attend Erev Shabbat and High Holy Day services and other CRS indoor events, you may show your CRS Precheck card to enter seamlessly.

How Precheck Entry Works:

1. CRS staff will need to verify your vaccination status:

When you attend an event in person for the first time and show us your proof of vaccination, we will make note at that time.

Beginning July 19, you can drop by CRS in person Monday through Thursday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm and show your proof of vaccination at the Security Desk.

You may also sign up for Zoom “Office Hours” and show your proof of vaccination to a staff member. Effective July 19, office hours are: Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00 am – 10:00 am. When it is time, click here to join Zoom “Office Hours”.

2. Once we verify your vaccine status, you can expect an email within three business days with your CRS Precheck Card.

3. You will need to show this card anytime you come to CRS – on your smartphone or bring a printout. You must still pre-register for all events. CRS Precheck is not a registration for an event. It is only intended to expedite your entry.

We appreciate your flexibility and feedback as we implement this new system. If you have any questions, please email info@crsnyc.org.

REOPENING SAFELY

For the last 15 months, this pandemic has affected all of us in profound ways. So, we want to ensure a healthy and happy return to our beloved Temple building for our CRS community – our congregants, staff, students, teachers, and clergy. With input from engineers and HVAC professionals, we made modifications and improvements with enhanced safety measures that include the following:

  • We installed MERV-13 filters in the Main Sanctuary, Schafler Forum, Hahn Chapel, North Tower, Fifth Floor, and Sixth Floor.
  • There are standalone air purifiers that use UV-C lighting, HEPA filters, and carbon filters in the Fifth Floor classrooms and open-office areas.
  • We installed fresh air dampers in several spaces to increase fresh air circulation in the Schafler Forum, Hahn Chapel, Schnurmacher Chapel, Eisner, and North Tower.
  • The Main Sanctuary has the capacity to have 100% fresh air supply and the power exhaust to remove air as well, making it a non-circulating ventilation system.

In addition, we are following rigorous cleaning and disinfecting protocols throughout the building. We utilize electrostatic sprayers with a combination of sodium hydroxide for cleaning and hypochlorous acid for disinfecting. Hand sanitizer dispensers, toilet covers, and signage encouraging hand washing are posted throughout the building.

We have learned valuable lessons during this past year and we will continue to gather information so that our facilities are as safe as they can be. We appreciate your patience and tolerance as we navigate our new normal to make a safe return and be together again.

Broadway Up Close: Ghostlight Tour with Tim Dolan and Rabbi Karol
Aug 11 @ 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Every night when the thousands of audience members leave the 41 Broadway theaters, a nightly ritual takes place unseen by most: the setting of the ghostlight. In June, Broadway historian Tim Dolan led Rodeph Sholom on a virtual tour through the history of Jewish influence on Broadway. Now, join Tim for in-person walking tour as we explore the ghostlight, and other superstitions rooted in days gone by but still held by theatre folk everywhere.

This event is for CRS Members Only.

About Broadway Up Close

Broadway Up Close strives to give you a “behind-the-scenes” look at Broadway theatre. All guides are professional working actors and stage managers in addition to being licensed tour guides. Being a part of “show business,” guides can give you insider info and stories from current and past shows that have graced the Broadway arena.
