It is with a profound mix of sadness and joy that we say goodbye to our Senior Rabbi, Robert Levine. Joy, it has been described, is that feeling of being filled with comfort and wrapped in peace. An apt description of you, for you have been for us the embodiment of comfort and peace.
In joy, we celebrate everything you have done and all you mean to us. All that you have built stands as your enduring legacy, a foundation to be ever polished, glistening forever.
You have always believed in us, your congregation. As you wrote in your book, Reflections on a Rabbinate, “Together, we built a remarkable community – warm, inclusive, and caring.” That is because you enriched us with your generosity, your strength, your wisdom, and your love.
You inspired in us the importance of Jewish values and ideals. You taught us that “doing Jewish” would give our lives purpose. And you encouraged us to celebrate our blessings. Well, Rebbe, we celebrate you, for you, you, Rebbe, are our blessing.
We are grateful to you, our beloved Rebbe forever, as we say
