Our New Executive Director

Posted on

Dear Congregants, Community Members, and Friends,

After completing a careful and considered search process that began late last year, we are pleased to announce that Barbara Zakin has joined CRS as our new Executive Director. Barbara was the unanimous choice of the Search Committee.

Barbara has more than 20 years experience in program development, social responsibility initiatives, communications and event marketing in both the public and the private sectors. She joins us after a 14-year career at Citigroup, where she held various positions, most recently as a Senior Vice President of Citi Community Development. Prior to joining Citi, Barbara was the Associate Director of Marketing at the Museum of Natural History here in New York City. Barbara is active in synagogue life and is dedicated to Jewish volunteerism and social justice initiatives. Barbara lives on the Upper East Side with her husband, Matthew Diebel, and their two children, Lydia and George.

We all are deeply grateful to Nancy Solomon for her volunteering–for the second time, no less–to be the acting Executive Director since Michael Kimmel left in December. Her unparalleled knowledge of the workings of CRS allowed her to provide a strong, guiding hand to the entire staff and assured that CRS remained on track until we hired a new Executive Director. We cannot thank her enough for this.

Barbara began her role earlier in the month and has already impressed us with her ability to learn who we are as a congregation. When you see her around, please be sure to introduce yourself to her and welcome her in the warmest Rodeph Sholom way. We will be having a special Congregational Pre-neg (like an oneg, but before Shabbat Services begin) to welcome Barbara on April 24th beginning at 5:00 P.M.

Warmly,

Rabbi Robert N. Levine, D.D., Senior Rabbi, Congregation Rodeph Sholom
Marty Flumenbaum, President of the Board of Trustees
Brian Perman, Chair of the Executive Director Search Committee

2024 Meeting Minutes will be posted soon. Please check back again.

  1. Fast internet connections are ideal for viewing, such as cable, fiber, and FiOS. Live streaming will not work with dial-up, and if you have a slow internet speed, you may experience stuttering or screen freezing.
  2. If your screen freezes during viewing, please try reloading your browser. Also try clearing your history and shutting down other programs and web pages.
  3. Google Chrome and Firefox work well with our Live Stream, while Safari can be less dependable. If you are unable to view Live Stream at all, please try a different browser.
  4. If you cannot hear the Live Stream, make sure you click “Tap to Unmute” at the top of the player.
  5. Sound is largely a function of the quality of your audio equipment. External speakers will greatly enhance the sound.
  6. If you are having trouble dialing in to services (audio only):
    • Dial (929) 205-6099 on your phone.
    • It will then ask for the meeting or webinar ID—Enter meeting/webinar ID (947 9181 4318) followed by #.
    • It will then ask for participant ID, but you can skip that and wait for it to ask for the meeting passcode. When it does, enter the meeting passcode (676 263) followed by #.
    • Once you’ve entered that, you should be dialed in and able to hear services.
