Another successful, moving, and empowering Mitzvah Weekend has come and gone, and we’d like to offer a huge thank-you to the hundreds of people who came to help out, donate clothing and books, give blood, help make crafts for our community, and help do tikkun olam—making our world a better place.
We also want to thank all those who helped organize and who attended the concert on Saturday night featuring Cantor Patti Linsky of Los Angeles, CA as our artist-in-residence. She performed her hit one-woman show, Altar EGO, which detailed her journeys through motherhood, her career, and her path to self-acceptance despite and through her struggles with addiction, underlining our weekend theme of awareness and advocacy of those with mental illness and addiction. Using clever covers of popular show tunes with re-written lyrics, tongue-in-cheek humor, and refreshing candor, she empowered the audience to self-love and moved many to tears, and hope.
We hope you enjoyed the weekend, and look forward to sharing many more successes in the future, as well as our recording of Cantor Patti Linsky’s show!
