What: Congregation Rodeph Sholom and Rodeph Sholom School’s First Ever Menorah-Making contest to design a handmade menorah. We are looking for designs that reflect our theme of “Be The Light!” We also welcome quirky, funny and/or offbeat designs. The contest is open to YOUTH ages 5-18 (siblings may work together or apart) and ADULTS.

– You must create a Menorah using any art or building supplies that you wish.
– The Menorah must have a total of nine branches (including the shamash).
– Eight branches must be in a straight line and of even height.
– An additional branch for the shamash must be either higher or lower than the other eight.
– Menorah may not be made of food.

Grand Prize and Runner Up Prizes will be announced soon!

Deadline: All entries must be delivered to CRS on Tuesday, November 30 and Wednesday, December 1 between 8:00 am and 6:00 PM, and placed on the designated table in the CRS Lobby. All Menorahs entered into the contest will be shown at our Chanukah Shabbat Celebration on Friday, December 3rd. Menorahs must be picked up by Tuesday, December 7 or they will be discarded.

Judging: Entries will be judged based on size, creativity, idea, uniqueness, expression, materials used, and thought process.
There will be a grand prize and a runner up prize for all 4 age groups: Group 1: ages 5-8; Group 2: Ages 9-12; Group 3: ages 13-18; Group 4: Adults (18+). There will also be a community favorite prize for all the Menorah with the most community votes. Community voting will take place on December 3rd at our Chanukah Shabbat Celebration.
