We are proud to share that HIAS has once again honored Congregation Rodeph Sholom with the Trailblazer Pathways Award for our continued work in support of refugees, asylum seekers, and those forcibly displaced from their homes. This award recognizes our steadfast commitment to welcoming the stranger, an essential and enduring value of our Jewish tradition.
With more than 120 million people displaced around the world today, HIAS has called this an “unparalleled moment in human history.” In the face of such devastation, our community’s efforts stand out as a reflection of lived Jewish values. Through advocacy, partnership, and hands-on support, we have helped bring comfort, safety, and dignity to those seeking refuge.
We are especially grateful to Annette Orenstein, our Social Action Chair, and to the many volunteers whose compassion and leadership drive this work forward. You continue to inspire hope through action.
As we enter the High Holy Day season, we share this recognition with deep pride, and renewed purpose. We invite all members of our community to stay engaged in the year ahead. To get involved, email socialaction@crsnyc.org to join our social action email list, and stay tuned for details about our upcoming Refugee Shabbat.
Even in times of challenge, our congregation remains a light in the darkness. Let us continue not only to pray, but to act in building a more just and compassionate world for all.
