CRS Feeds is our congregation’s year-round initiative to fight food insecurity through hands-on service and giving. From supporting Backpack Buddies to partnering with West Side Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH), we come together to ensure all New Yorkers have access to healthy food.
This Yom Kippur, Congregation Rodeph Sholom is reimagining our annual food drive as a hands-on, high-impact experience. As we enter this season of reflection and renewal, we invite you to join in a meaningful act of tzedakah—nourishing our neighbors in partnership with WSCAH.
We’re not just collecting food, we’re rolling up our sleeves.
On Yom Kippur Day, Thursday, October 2, we’ll sort donated food items for WSCAH—putting our values into action on the holiest day of the year. Your participation—through donations and volunteer service—will directly support WSCAH’s mission of ensuring access to healthy food and supportive services, delivered with dignity and choice. Information about how to volunteer will be available this fall.

Bring Shelf-Stable Items in Yon Kippur Day
To support WSCAH’s efficient food distribution model, only the items listed below will be accepted.Your careful attention to this list ensures we can be most helpful.
Help WSCAH ensure at least 50% of every food distribution is fresh fruits and vegetables. Your gift stretches further—WSCAH buys produce at reduced prices to feed more people.
Since 1979, West Side Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH) has been one of New York City’s most respected emergency food providers, serving over 100,000 people annually. Their approach centers on access, dignity, and choice, offering healthy groceries, benefits assistance like SNAP enrollment, and long-term support for food-insecure families.
WSCAH also leads The Roundtable: Allies for Food Access, a coalition of frontline organizations working together to end hunger across the city.
Congregation Rodeph Sholom has been a proud partner since WSCAH’s founding, and we are deeply grateful for their collaboration in this reimagined effort to fight hunger—together.
