Congregation Rodeph Sholom is excited to continue the energy of our 175th anniversary celebration and carry it forward into a new year with new projects, plans, and ideas! This summer we are joining with the Upper West Side Jewish community in a joint effort to promote understanding, tolerance, and compassion through the nationally renowned Hate Has No Home Here campaign.
This national campaign originated in Chicago, starting with a catchphrase imagined by a kindergartner and a third grader. The aim of the project is to combat the hateful messages, rhetoric, and behavior that have been spreading in recent years throughout our country and our communities. Using yard signs and posters, communities, local businesses, and residences can proclaim they are safes zones from hate speech and behavior. You can learn more about the campaign here.
We are pleased to have joined the campaign, by putting banners on the outside of the synagogue and in our elevators. In doing so, we join others in our community who are also participating—including local synagogue B’nai Jeshurun. We look forward to working through our social action program on our various initiatives to help refugees and promote community acceptance. If you are interested in being part of our social action team—and we hope you are!—please email socialaction@crsnyc.org.
