How is the shift from inherited to chosen religious identity reshaping American Judaism? Join us for a Shabbat Lunch and Learn as we delve into how this transformation influences denominational dynamics, interfaith relationships, public engagement, and the adaptability of Jewish communities.

Leading the discussions are Senior Rabbi Ben Spratt, co-author of Awakenings: American Jewish Transformations in Identity, Leadership, and Belonging, and Jerome A. Chanes, co-author of The Future of Judaism in America. Together, they will offer deep insights into this “regime of choice” and its implications for the future of Jewish identity and community resilience.

Jerome Chanes, no stranger to Rodeph Sholom, is an acclaimed author and scholar with five books and over one hundred articles, reviews, book chapters, and encyclopedia entries to his name. He teaches at City College of New York and Baruch College and is currently working on Staging Identity, a historical exploration of 100 years of Israeli theatre.
