Congregation Rodeph Sholom

Morning Chapel Service: Shabbat of Belonging
Our Chapel Service will be crafted around the theme of belonging. We are a congregation of many backgrounds, hopes and beliefs and, echoing Isaiah’s vision, Congregation Rodeph Sholom is meant to be a “house of prayer for all people.” Join us on this Shabbat, as we celebrate inclusion, diversity and belonging.

March on NYC (open to all adults and youth)

On January 21st, tens of thousands worldwide will be marching in support of equality and to promote civil rights for every human. We know many of you are heading to Washington, DC, but for those who want to stay closer to home, CRS will be joining our voices to those of the larger New York community promoting our values, hopes, and commitments to equality, freedom, and justice.

10:15 AM Meet at CRS for Shabbat morning Chapel Service of Belonging
10:45 AM Depart CRS for B’nai Jeshurun
11:00 AM Jewish Community Rally and Gathering at B’nai Jeshurun (257 W. 88th St.)
12:00 PM Depart from B’nai Jeshurun to meet main rally (CRS will be gathering at the NW corner of 89th/Broadway)

Rally
The rally will begin promptly at 11:00 am. Please do your best to arrive at 10:50 am to get a seat. Based on the numbers we are expecting, balcony seating will be open.Rabbi Joy Levitt from the JCC will be the emcee. Rabbis Sari Laufer, Shai Held and Joanna Samuels will be offering readings and Divrei Torah, and Rabbi Michael Strassfeld will be leading the community in songs throughout the rally. Congressman Jerry Nadler will also be addressing those assembled for the Rally.

Official March Route
We will be walking from the synagogue on the sidewalks the whole way. South on Broadway to 65th Street. South on Columbus Avenue and continuing on 9th Avenue to 52nd Street. East on 52nd Street, at which point we will join with the main march at 5th Avenue and 52nd Street for the last 3 blocks of the march until 55th Street near Trump Tower.

The main march is dispersing at this point. There will be a few suggested activities at the end.

What to Expect
We are expecting between 1100-1300 people to join us on the UWS March. We anticipate 90-100 people from CRS will be marching – women, men, younger and older. There will be marshals wearing brightly colored vests who will be helping the group, along with the NYPD officers, to keep everyone on the sidewalks and help us cross at intersections. There will also be some other folks who can support individuals needing assistance along the way.
