Jewish Basics

Wed, Sep 13, 2017 • 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Congregation Rodeph Sholom
|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, repeating until Wed, Dec 20, 2017

Congregation Rodeph Sholom offers an orientation to Judaism and Jewish life through community and conversation.  This introductory class aims to establish a foundation for an individual or couple interested in living a Jewish life.  Jewish Basics will expose the learner to the Jewish holidays, foundational Jewish texts, mitzvot, and great Jewish questions.

We believe that any entry into Judaism stands upon three pillars: Torah (learning), Avodah (prayer), and Gemilut Chasadim(acts of loving kindness), all of which we will engage with and explore over two semesters.  If you’re curious, and want to enrich your understanding of Jewish faith and culture, this is the class for you. For those who are interested in conversion, this course offers a stimulating and thoughtful introduction and is required.

Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30 PM, beginning September 13
Cost: $720 (includes all class materials, individual time with clergy, four Shabbat dinners, and outings)
