Grappling with Issues of Land and Peace in Israel through Contemporary Poetry

Tue, Jan 23, 2018 • 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Poetry is an art form deeply valued by Israelis and Arabs. Through the lens of poetic literature, we will delve into love of nation, struggles with ongoing conflict, and hopes for peace. Led by Rabbi Sarah Reines, together we will explore works of modern Jewish Israeli, Arab-Israeli, Palestinian, and Palestinian-American poets, such as Israel’s unofficial poet laureate, Yehuda Amichai; one of Israel’s most popular living poets, Agi Mishol; Palestinian national poet Mahmoud Darwish; Druze Israeli poet Salman Masalha; and Palestinian-American poet Naomi Shihab Nye.
