Erev Shabbat Service & Special Program: Heeding the Call of the Refugee

Fri, Mar 3, 2017 • 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM

Main Sanctuary (Congregation Rodeph Sholom)

There are millions of refugees around the world today.  The question echoes in all of our minds: What can we do to help?

Join us as we dedicate our Shabbat to learning about how we can support refugees here in New York.  During our Shabbat service we will hear the firsthand account of a young refugee mother and her son about their journey as refugees from Afghanistan.

After services, we invite everyone to learn how you can get involved right here at Rodeph Sholom, as well as around our city, to help the many refugees in need here in our community. There will be an information fair and Oneg in the Schafler Forum, with many organizations present.  Come and learn more about their good work:

-New York Cares
-International Rescue Committee
-HIAS
-Muslim-Jewish Solidarity Committee
-Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty
-Multifaith Alliance of Syrian Refugees
-Carry the Future
-Refugee Immigration Fund
-CRS Task Force

Now more than ever, we must stand up for those who need our help.  Please come to this important and uplifting evening; we can be helpers, we can change outcomes on many fronts.
