Caring Community @ CRS Lunch on Memory Disorders

Tue, Jan 19, 2016 • 12:30 PM - 1:45 PM

Hahn Chapel (Congregation Rodeph Sholom)

Caring for someone with dementia has been likened to the Israelites wandering in the wilderness, the midbar.

Amidst the losses and struggles are also moments of beauty and amazing power.

If you have a family member or loved one experiencing dementia, Alzheimer’s, or any other memory disorder, we invite you to an informative luncheon on Tuesday, January 19th, from 12:30-1:45pm.

Our program, “Dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Other Memory Disorders:  Information and Strategies for Coping with the Road Ahead,” will be lead by Dr. Deborah B. Marin, an expert in geriatric psychiatry at Mount Sinai.  Dr. Marin will discuss the medical, social and spiritual dimensions of memory disorders and will provide practical strategies for communicating with and caring for individuals with all forms and stages of these illnesses.

Dr. Marin is the George and Marion Sokolik Blumenthal Professor of Psychiatry and the Director of the Center for Spirituality and Health at the Mount Sinai Health System.  Dr. Marin has been a member of the Mount Sinai faculty since 1992 and is board certified in both psychiatry and neurology. As an expert in geriatric psychiatry with special knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease, Dr. Marin receives patient referrals from physicians locally and nationally, and has played a significant role in clinical research studies of dementia.
