Masks may be a defining symbol of this time, but their protective, political, and identifying functions are not totally new. This year’s Shabbat Study Series will explore different uses of ‘masks’ in Jewish text and tradition—what they conceal, and what they reveal.

MAR 13: Beyond the Veil with Rabbinic Intern Vanessa Harper – Veils and other face-coverings appear throughout the Hebrew Bible, sometimes serving to conceal what lies beneath, and sometimes revealing the depths of one’s identity. We’ll explore key examples from our sacred texts, and examine how these ancient masks might lend new significance to the masks we wear today.
