This fall, we are launching a powerful new concert series, Bridges in Sound—and we begin during the week in which we mark the two-year anniversary of October 7. At a moment of remembrance and reflection, music offers us a way to hold grief and hope together, to listen deeply, and to affirm our shared humanity.

The opening concert, Songs of Sweetness & Sorrow, brings together Israeli-born, New York–based artists Maya Lahyani (Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano) and Dan Nadel (acclaimed guitarist), alongside violinist Sara Caswell and drummer Satoshi Takeishi. Together, they explore the works of Israeli female lyricists and composers—songs of home, peace, love, family, nature, consolation, and coexistence.

Through their collaboration, these musicians open a window into the Israeli songbook’s often-overlooked narrative: one of beauty, longing, fear, and hope. It is an evening of resonance and remembrance, where music becomes a shared language of resilience and unity.
