Haute & Holy Class Series: Astrology, Fate, and Fortune in the Jewish Tradition
May 18, 6:30-8:00 pm
While astrology might sound antithetical to Judaism, the two share a long history. In fact, divination was a common occurrence in the Bible, and the Rabbis who invented Judaism as we know it often incorporated astrology into their own practice. In this class, Rabbi Arielle Stein will guide us through the history of the relationship between Judaism and astrology, touching on Jewish approaches to tarot, fortune-telling, and what’s written in our stars.
About the Series:
From “fit checks” to “What’s in My Bag?” videos, social media influencer and local NYC Rabbi Arielle Stein shows us what it means to be a respected rabbi, artist, and fashion icon. She is known for being a leader at the intersection of fashion, art, and Jewish wisdom.
This spring, she joins us to teach Haute & Holy, a unique five-part class series that explores modern ways of living Jewishly, and puts Torah in conversation with some of today’s hottest cultural phenomena.
You can sign up for any class that interests you a la carte for $36 per class. Or, sign up for the whole series for a discounted price of $125.
This unique class offering is part of a rabbinic exchange program with Congregation Rodeph Sholom. We welcome CRS students to join us for classes at Central, and next year, Central’s Rabbi Sivan Rotholz will teach a class at CRS, with spots for Central students to participate.
