By Any Other Name, a novel by Jodi Picoult

Modern-day playwright Melina Green struggles to get her new play produced—until a friend submits it under a male pseudonym. Centuries earlier, her ancestor Emilia Bassano, a gifted writer in Elizabethan England, secretly enlists a young actor named William Shakespeare to bring her words to the stage. Told in dual timelines, this rich and imaginative novel explores ambition, identity, and the fight for a woman’s voice in a world that tries to silence it.

CRS Book Club gathers on a Thursday each month at 7:00 PM to discuss books (fiction and non-fiction, plays, and poetry) written by Jewish authors or that have a Jewish theme. See a book that interests you? Read it and join us for the discussion! Learn more about CRS Book Club here.
