Crossing the Line: Finding America in the Borderlands

Politicians constantly mention the border in their speeches and interviews and most paint a picture of impending danger. But, what is really happening at the border? Sarah Towles spent time on both sides of the border and celebrates the ordinary people who became involved as volunteers to ease the plight of migrants stuck there. She celebrates their achievements and demonstrates that we can welcome people with dignity and empathy.
Learn from her experience and hear from volunteers in New York City who have been on the front lines for more than two years. The panel will include Ilze Thielmann, founder of the Little Shop of Kindness and CRS congregant and trustee Candice Braun, founder of ROCC, Resources, Opportunities, Connections, and Community located at Metro Baptist Church.
Sarah’s book will be offered for sale at the end of the program.
