Join Rabbi Dr. Gilah Kletenik over lunch for a fresh look at Spinoza’s Ethics.

In her new book Sovereignty Disrupted: Spinoza and the Disparity of Reality (Stanford University Press, 2025), Rabbi Dr. Kletenik shows how a variety of social hierarchies in society are supported by the logics and mechanisms of sovereignty promoted by Western, Christian philosophy. Turning to Spinoza and his medieval Jewish philosophical sources, Kletenik uncovers a radical Jewish alternative that is more egalitarian and ethical.

Come to learn about Spinoza’s “heretical” ideas; stay for their insight into sexism, Big Tech, and the climate crisis today!

Lunch included.

No refunds will be issued within 14 days of the event start date. All requests must be made in writing to crs@crsnyc.org.
