June 2017: Tell your Senators that the AHCA makes you sick!
American Health Care Act (AHCA), the health bill passed by the House of Representatives, will:
- leave 23 more million American uninsured than under the Affordable Care Act, according to the Congressional Budget Office;
- dramatically increase the cost of insurance for people who are sick or have preexisting conditions;
- cause consumers to pay thousands of dollars more in out-of-pocket expenses for maternity care, mental health, substance abuse services, and hospital stays;
- limit the ability of low-income Americans and people with disabilities to obtain insurance; and
- block Medicaid reimbursements to Planned Parenthood – 2.7 people rely on this organization for affordable preventive health care and treatment.
The Senate is now considering the House bill. Click here to tell your Senators that the protections provided under the Affordable Care Act must be saved. Access to health should be a right, not a privilege for the wealthy.
