The weekend of December 9th – December 12th, CRS teens from grades 9th – 12th made their annual visit to Washington D.C. and participated in the RAC’s (Reform Action Center) L’Taken program for teens. L’Taken is a four-day experience focused on Jewish values and social justice, specifically focused around politics. The teens participated in the program with high school students from across the country and learned about issues like, Voting Rights, Refugee Resettlement, LGBTQ and Health and Reproductive Reform. They were engaged on personal ways they can help make change, and had an opportunity to lobby our Senators and House Representatives and shared positive changes they want to see. The trip concluded with our 13 teens and Rabbi Weitzman lobbying Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman Jerrold Nadler’s staffers. This trip is always life changing for the teens who attend, and we can’t wait for next year!
