Did you know that your synagogue home is five blocks away from one the New York City’s largest emergency food providers? West Side Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH) is a nonprofit organization that annually distributes over 1.7 million pounds of food to low-income families, and secures millions of dollars in public benefits for its clients. More than an emergency food pantry, WSCAH is a culinary training and social service counseling center that seeks to aid and empower.
CRS is blessed to feature Chef Greg Silverman, Executive Director of WSCAH, as our “activist-in-residence.” Chef Greg is a longtime leader in the anti-hunger movement who is transforming the landscape of food justice in New York City.
Friday, October 26 at 6:00 PM Chef Greg will be our featured speaker during Erev Shabbat services. Sneak a peek at WSCAH’s new mobile pantry, which will be parked outside after Shabbat services.
Saturday, October 27 at 6:00 PM Join Chef Greg, Rabbi Weitzman, and Rabbi Karol for Havdalah services at the WSCAH pantry, 263 West 86th Street, and then start your week by restocking the WSCAH pantry.
