Sending the Gift of Music to Our Rodeph Sholom Family This Chanukah!
This year, we had the incredible opportunity to have our CRS teens write a new, original Chanukah song for our community. They went above and beyond, resulting in a powerful song for this particular time in our world. We hope this song bring uplift and joy to you and your family this Chanukah.
Special message from our teens:
Congregation Rodeph Sholom has always loved to sing. It’s something that defines us. Music brings us together like nothing else and is at the center of all of our holidays, especially Chanukah! So when we, the teens, of CRS got the opportunity to write with Jewish songwriter Alan Goodis we couldn’t pass the opportunity up to write a Chanukah song for our generation. Through four sessions of writing our ideas, looking at texts, clumsy sentences, and stumbling over rhyming words, we created a new Congregation Rodeph Sholom Channukah song, called “We Are The Light”.
All of us believe that, in a time when it may be hard to believe things will get better, we need to remind ourselves that, not only is the Menorah the light of Hannukah, so are we.” —Lucy Cristol, Alexander Cawdron, Audrey Kolber, Emily Rosman, and Jack Melinger
