On Saturday, February 2, 2019, Chamber Music at Rodeph Sholom presented their annual ChamberJazz concert. The full house was treated to an afternoon of eclectic classics from around the world of music—the afternoon started with sweet and easy “Warm Valley” by Duke Ellington, followed by a compositions by drummer Chris Parker, “Better Days Better Nights” and “West Cornwall Bridge.”
Cantor Rebecca Garfein performed a heart-stopping “Porgi Amor” from The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart. Composer and pianist Ted Rosenthal introduced works from his new opera, Dear Erich. Our flutist Susan Rotholz surprised and delighted us when she sang a song from the opera, “Everything My Father Never Told Me.”
Eddie Barbash put smiles on everyone’s faces with hits “Blueberry Hill” by Vincent Rose and “Crying” by Roy Orbison. He sandwiched in his own punchy humorous composition, “Mariachi.”
Brilliantly curated by Artistic Director Eliot Bailen, the concert was the middle of CMRS season. The final concert, featuring Sephardic music, is on Saturday, April 6th. Click here to sign up!
