The thirteenth season of Chamber Music at Rodeph Sholom launched on Thursday, November 8, with bravura performances by Artistic Director Eliot Bailen, Susan Rotholz, Michael Roth, Doori Na, Sarah Adams, Daniel Bailen and Peter Lurye. The program started with Sonata for Clarinet and Piano by Leonard Bernstein, continued to Prelude for Lancelot by Rosy Wertheim, and took a sprightly turn with a West Side Story Instrumental Medley by Bernstein, and arranged by John Moss.
The audience was spellbound, unable to hold applause until the end, in a performance of Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in F Minor, Opus 80.
Please join us for our next concert on Saturday, February 2 for the perennial favorite, Chamber Jazz. This concert will feature jazz performed by saxophone sensation Eddie Barbash and ne plus ultra mezz0-soprano Cantor Rebecca Garfein. Among many pieces in the concert, the group will perform excerpts from contemporary composer and frequent CMRS player Ted Rosenthal’s new opera Dear Erich, which will also be performed at NYC Opera.
