We’re so proud to celebrate the launch of the Israeli Hug Center’s new website – a major milestone for an organization that was born within our own walls.
In the days following October 7th, Congregation Rodeph Sholom opened its doors to Israelis seeking comfort, safety, and connection. What began as small healing circles soon became something greater: a space where people could share, rebuild, and rediscover belonging. From those early gatherings, the Israeli Hug Center was founded, guided by a deep understanding that community heals best when it comes together.
With CRS as its founding sponsor, the Israeli Hug Center has grown into a vibrant 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving more than 3,000 Israelis across New York. Through 23 ongoing programs, the Center offers emotional support, cultural connection, and a strong sense of Jewish identity, helping participants feel seen, supported, and never alone.
The organization now partners with institutions across the city, including Temple Emanu-El Downtown, JCC Manhattan, East End Synagogue, Town & Village Synagogue, the World Zionist Organization, the Jewish Agency for Israel, and The Jewish Board, among others, reflecting the shared commitment to building resilience and hope.
At its heart, the Israeli Hug Center ensures that every Israeli in New York and its surrounding areas feels understood, valued, and connected. Its mission continues to resonate the same spirit that inspired its founding at CRS: creating a true home for the Israeli community, wherever they may be.
We’re honored to celebrate this next chapter and proud to see how far this community of care has come.
