Welcome to Congregation Rodeph Sholom in New York City

Stefano Iacono (he/him), our Associate Cantor, received ordination from HUC-JIR’s Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music in New York City in May 2021. Cantor Iacono (pronounced YAH-kuh-no) brings his deep sense of Jewish spirituality to the CRS community. His goal, as he puts it is: “To enhance prayer and foster learning. To share in celebration and mourning. To connect with one another as we seek connection with God. To make distance feel close.”
Helping people find their place in Judaism is Cantor Iacono’s passion. We are on this Earth to make meaning of Creation, and harnessing ritual in the modern era is a radical act that connects us to our ancestral clan and land. By balancing thousands of years of history and culture with the exciting new opportunities to bless and explore our city, we can foster relationships with one another and imbue our lives with ancient spirituality.
Cantor Iacono composes Hebrew texts in various musical genres and traditions, his way of celebrating the diversity of Jewish expression in worship and ritual. He takes pride in teaching our b’nei mitzvah the tradition of chanting Torah and championing the on their way to becoming leaders in our world.
