The Kindness Center – Team TLC NYC
The Kindness Center assists recently arrived asylum seekers with a variety of essential services including:
- Pro Se Legal Services
- ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
- Job Readiness Support
- Discount MetroCard Enrollment
- Mental Health Support & Stress Management
Volunteers Needed: Spanish and French translators to circulate throughout the Center.
Hours: Every Tuesday from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Love in Action: Support for Arriving Refugees & Asylum Seekers – St. Paul & St. Andrew
St. Paul & St. Andrew offers two valuable programs for immigrants:
Resource Fair – Every Monday at 9:00 AM
A warm welcome for the newest New Yorkers. Volunteer roles include:
- Welcome Crew
- Welcome & Check-in
- Hospitality
- Goods Distribution
- Play with Kids
Hablemos Ingles (y Español) – Every Wednesday at 6:00 PM
An informal opportunity to practice English with native Spanish speakers. Volunteer roles include:
- Provide Dessert
- Homework Help
- Conversational English & Spanish

Court Accompaniment – Sacred Court Support
Sacred Court Support is a collaboration between HIAS, St. Paul & St. Andrew, and B’nai Jeshurun. Volunteers assist immigrants by accompanying them to their court hearings and appointments.
Volunteer Requirements:
- Pairing with someone fluent in the necessary language(s)
- Training and debriefing are provided to ensure proper support

Become a Mentor
Help change the life of an 18–20-year-old asylum seeker. Mentors provide invaluable guidance to young people navigating life in a new city.
Volunteer Opportunities:
ROCC operates a resource center on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Volunteers are needed to bake and drop off breakfast treats for the community.

Advocacy – Multifaith Mondays: Moral Witness for Democracy
When: Every Monday from 5:30 – 6:00 PM
Where: USS Maine statue, SW corner of Central Park at Columbus Circle
Join a sacred space for collective lament and multi-faith community building during a time of division and threats to democracy.
