Rabbi Goldberg has spent the past two weeks on faculty at URJ Camp Eisner. Campers love receiving mail while they are at camp; here’s what Rabbi Goldberg would write to our CRS campers:
Dear Summer 2026 CRS Eisner & Crane Lake Campers,
It has been such a pleasure to spend the past two weeks with you.
One of the best parts of being a rabbi is getting to spend time at camp as part of the faculty.
One of the best parts of being your rabbi is getting to see you thrive at Eisner Camp and Crane Lake Camp.
I hope you are having the best summer of your lives.
I hope you’ve sung your hearts out at song sessions and made new friends.
I hope you’ve jumped in the pool/lake and explored a new hobby.
I hope you’ve pulled pranks (appropriately) and felt the sense of belonging that comes with being at Jewish summer camp.
I hope you’ve learned something new about Judaism or about the kind of Jew you are.
I hope you feel the way that Jewish joy abounds at summer camp.
And I hope you know that the memories and friends you’ve made at camp in summer 2026 don’t stay at camp. They come home with you. The moments you’ve had at camp this summer will shape who you are this coming year, and the year after that, and for decades to come.
And you, in turn, will shape what Jewish life looks like in the future. We need leaders like you. People who think deeply about our Jewish values and who know that prayer can happen anywhere and who believe that Jewish joy is the best expression of Jewish life.
Whatever time you have left at camp this summer, soak it all in. When you come home (after you’ve unpacked and slept), let’s get together to reminisce about our favorite moments this summer. And after that—let’s work together to bring camp magic to all our Jewish communities. Everyone should be so lucky to experience what you’ve experienced this summer.
I’m proud of you. I can’t wait to see the people you become after having spent summer 2026 at Eisner Camp and Crane Lake Camp.
